Budapest, city of spas

Even if your plan is tight is highly recommended during your Budapest trip is to spend few hours in the Thermal Baths of Budapest. There is a huge selection of spas. The most famous are the Széchenyi (Pest side) and the Gellért (Buda side). Those are the most magnificent for their architecture and greatness. The Széchenyi was built at the beginning of the 20th century in a Neo-baroque style, there are many indoor pools and outdoor pools that are open also during the winter. Today, it is a very well-known and popular thing in Hungary. This spa is characterized by the outdoor chess play. Also the Gellért operates since the beginning of the 20th century, designed in art nouveau, this complex is connected to the Gellért Hotel . Within Gellért you can find separate male and female thermal baths, several indoor pools and a big outdoor one.

Those spas are the most famous but there are others and less touristic thermal resorts belong to the turkish occupation (Rudas and Lukács).
